Where we work
Tree surveys and tree work in Ambleside and Grasmere.
Tree surveys, planning tree reports and careful tree work in Ambleside, Grasmere and the central Lakes.
Ambleside and Grasmere lie inside the Lake District National Park, which is also a World Heritage Site. Tree work and planning applications here go through the Lake District National Park Authority, and we know how to present them.
Protected trees and conservation areas
Both villages have conservation areas, and many trees in the central Lakes are covered by Tree Preservation Orders. Before any work, we check the status of every tree. Where permission or notification is needed, we prepare it and explain the reasons for the work in terms the tree officer will accept.
What we do here
- Tree surveys for hotels, holiday lets, schools, churches and estates
- Planning tree reports (BS5837) for conversions, extensions and new buildings
- Veteran and heritage trees: assessing old trees and advising how to keep them
- Tree work: dismantling in tight spaces, crown reduction, crown lifting and pruning
Trees we know
Skelghyll Woods, above Ambleside, hold the tallest tree in Cumbria, a grand fir of 57.8 metres which one of our consultants climbed and measured. You can read about it in our article. We have also taken down large beeches in the Langdale valley.
